Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy - Ludwig van Beethoven

Music, beyond deep knowledge of its own musical rules, requires uncompromising dedication, attentive study and rare analytic skills. Too many times a mere reading-of-the-notes, without real understanding of the musical thought, an ignorant approach to the sound, the music score and the instrument, and - still worse - a complete lack of the need or wish to discover the Truth and Beauty, has been considered as music.

During a long musical journey, I have had opportunities to study both theoretical and historical aspects of music in depth. I have developed the idea that correct knowledge of the historical period and conventions in which that music was composed, study of the appropriate performing style on the basis of an unprejudiced historically informed approach, and willingness to respect the composer’s musical thought are the basic requirements to enter the art of music and discover its meaning.
The four-year advanced Piano and Chamber Music Course Ars et Labor in Vicenza was an essential part of my musical education: it brought me into contact with phenomenology as a doctrine applied to music. Christa Bützberger and Marina Rossi – the two teachers – have provided a turning point in my understanding of both music and life. Thanks to this encounter my knowledge of emotional control during live performance increased, and I was able to study technical aspects of keyboard performance in the light of correct consciousness of bodily movements. Moreover, I came to understand the importance of education as a process of developing students’ musical skills and self-control, whilst leaving untouched their sensitivity and encouraging their independence.

I wish to end my introduction expressing my sincere gratitude to Mr. Tanyalux Luanghvisut for his endless generosity and his undefatigable dedication.

Thanks to him I had chance to achieve this ambitious project.
